CVC Words
CVC words are simple, three-letter words that follow a Consonant-Vowel-Consonant pattern. These words are foundational in early reading education because they help children learn to blend sounds and recognize common spelling patterns. Examples of CVC words include "cat," "dog," "hat," and "pen."
In a CVC word:
The first letter is a consonant (C), like 'c' in "cat."
The middle letter is a vowel (V), like 'a' in "cat."
The last letter is a consonant (C), like 't' in "cat."
Practicing CVC words helps children improve their phonemic awareness and build confidence in reading and writing. By mastering these words, young learners develop the skills needed to tackle more complex words and sentences.
